TPI-certified Osteopath Dr. Kristopher Sanford. The Golfing Osteo.

Dr. Kristopher Sanford, also known as ‘The Golfing Osteo’ graduated from RMIT University in 2015, and moving to Sydney soon after to find some nicer weather & new challenges.
Originally from country Victoria, Kris’ childhood saw him playing every sport that he possible could, including golf at Ballarat Golf Club. Although he was never particularly good at golf, his love for it carried through to his adult life both socially and professionally.
At the beginning of 2024, Kristopher started Links Health and Performance, with the first golf club partner being Cromer Golf Club.
Kristopher’s passion and goal is to keep golfer’s playing for as many years as possible. He believes that if someone can continue playing golf at least 2x/week into their older years, all of their health metrics will benefit. Cardio-vascular health, mechanical health, psychological health, social health all benefit from regular exercise and a sense of community.

What to expect in your initial consultation

During your initial session, your Osteopath will delve into the history of your golf-related concerns. They will inquire about when and where your symptoms first surfaced, how they’ve evolved over time, any prior treatments you’ve undergone, and the impact of your pain on your golf game & daily life.

Following this comprehensive overview of your injury history, your Osteopath will conduct a hands-on examination, encompassing various tests targeting the spine, nervous system, muscles, and joints.
The examination session will also include a review of your golf swing, and where possible a video assessment that allows decisions to be made that will best benefit your golf game.

Upon pinpointing the root causes, your Osteopath will create a treatment plan that will give you the best chance to return to golf quickly and achieve your golfing goals. The primary objective is to restore optimal, pain-free movement to your muscles and joints, which will allow optimal function of the bodies mechanics.

How is Osteopathy different?

Osteopathy is an allied health practice similar to physiotherapy or chiropractic. Although often compared to each other, there are differences between all 3 practices.
In general, Osteopathy can be thought as a middle ground between physiotherapy and chiropractic. Using techniques that are associated with each profession, Osteopaths tend to look at the body as a whole. The goal of Osteopathy is to restore normal function to the body, and this is done by treating both the muscles and joints in equal parts.
